As Deleuze would say, the artist goes to the “conquest of surfaces” to give them sense, to endow them with depth and to give them a new history. The meticulous luminous boxes of Carlos Rivera, realized by addition of layers of adhesive tape, only show what they represent only if they are to be illuminated. These deployments as much chaotic as much as organized of sharp blades on colored painted supports become abstract compositions.
