Kenia ALMARAZ MURILLO

Born in Bolivia
Lives and works in Paris

Kenia Almaraz Murillo is heavily inspired by her childhood in Bolivia. She left Bolivia to move to France at the age of 11, but her imagination remains full of Andean colours. Today, these are the tones that color her multidisciplinary work.
Textile is the medium in a series of works strongly inspired by traditional Bolivian weaving. Coloured neon lights snake through these draperies, thus modernizing the traditional aesthetic in a contemporary way.
Far from simply following tradition, Kenia dares to explore new geometric and visual elements, simultaneously honoring and modernizing her cultural heritage. Kenia Almaraz Murillo studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2015, from which she graduated in 2020 with the jury’s distinction.
